So, that tittle is technically a lie as I’m not actually leaving… I’m just re-locating. Over to blogger, with a new domain and what not. Blogger just seemed to be more practical for what I wanted and I feel a fresh space for my blog is exactly what I needed. I also have a tone of posts already lined up and scheduled so it’s going to have more regular and better content.
Please follow my new blog on bloglovin’
I hope to see you all over there. Adios amigos x
I’ve got a chronic case of bad blogger syndrome so until that’s fixed, here’s some street style shots I got whilst wandering Shoreditch a few weeks ago.
Holla April, it’s time we got some Spring shopping done! My style is all over the place recently so I’m going back to basics with smocks and breton tees.. and if they aren’t grey or black or some shade in between, I’m not interested. Spring is also the time for investment pieces so I think it’s about time I finally gave in and got myself that Rocco bag. Don’t you agree?
Not quite ‘new year, new me’ worthy but considering I used to find minimalist clothing unoriginal and overrated I’ve found myself not only jumping on the bandwagon but taking a firm seat at the front lately. Statement pieces are all well and good but key word being statement; Once you’ve made it, bam, who wants to see it again, nobody right?
Whereas crisp textures and simplistic designs can be worn effortlessly time and time again. Why would I not want that?
It’s like a revolution but theres only so many plain white tees a girl can own before this gets boring, surely?
Coat – River Island | Top – JD | Skirt – River Island | Bag – Zara
This picture is hideous and I’m not completely sold on the outfit but the jacket is the equivalent to wearing a hug which is always ideal for a day at uni.
River Island have seriously upped their game in the past 12 months and it’s becoming a go-to shop of mine. Although my shopping experience would be far more pleasant if they didn’t play Rihanna tracks back-to-back on full volume. I understand her collection is pretty decent but that gal is seriously overrated – sorry RiRi fans!
I have no idea how to construct this post without making it sound like one big cheese fest so I apologise in advance.
I’m going to start by explaining my lack of posts recently. I don’t have a particular reason for my absence other than a lack of inspiration and I’d rather not upload content that doesn’t meet the standards I’d like to think I’ve created for my blog (About 70% of the things I write only end up as drafts – I’m a tad picky). I also considered writing a post explaining my absence but I don’t want Thoughts By Briley to be a place of negativity either. On that note, I’ll move on from this but hopefully blogging should become more frequent within the next week or two.
Now onto what I actually want to talk about, THE PAST YEAR. My little blog is 1 today! Well it’s technically slightly older but the first published post went up a year ago today and around that time I began to live my life around my slice of the internet. I say that light heartedly but I’m sure a lot of you can relate to standing in the queue at Zara, clenching onto your new city bag with thoughts like ‘I can’t wait to style this up and blog about it’ running through your head?
Blogging has always been a challenge for me and still tests me regularly but it’s always been a constructive progression. My writing technique isn’t the best and I should really shape up on my photography skills but in the past year my blog has given me the confidence to express my creativity far more than I ever did before. I’ve also had the opportunity to work with some amazing PR companies, attend some pretty suave events and meet a tone of like minded bloggers who all share my love for excessive spending and hoarding lipsticks.
To bring my ramblings to an end I want to thank anyone who has ever taken the time to read my blog, whether you’re a fellow blogger or someone who’s just stumbled across it on accident. Whether you’ve been reading my blog from the beginning or this is the first post you’ve ever read.. THANK YOU. I’m proud of my little space on the web and I enjoy sharing my thoughts with you. Here’s to the next year, and year after that, and so on. *raises imaginary champagne glass*
Boots – Jeffrey Campbell VIA Folkster
By the phrase ‘New in’, I mean: new in my wardrobe, new on my feet, new source of happiness,
new love of my life. Yep, after drooling over these for almost a year, I finally got my hands on a pair. If it wasn’t for them being sold out on every eStore, it was my hesitation of spending that much money on another pair of black boots. I can assure you all though, they were well worth the wait and money. The quality is top notch whilst still keeping the boot light weight (I find certain boots Dr Martens to be a bit heavy) and the buckle detailing adds the perfect amount of grunge to an outfit. They’ve not left my feet since they arrived and its 25 degrees+ outside.. Dedication.
I ordered them from a website called Folkster which sell a variety of Jeffrey Campbell’s and other brands and I’m so pleased I chose that site. They go above and beyond to make the costumer happy and they even put hand written thank you messages on the tag –
although my name was incorrect, the thought was there.
Also, the unicorn packaging came as a pleasant surprise. In my opinion, a lot nicer than the infamous cat/t-shirt style box all my other JC’s have arrived in. Let’s face it, Unicorns will always beat Cats.
